Six Generations of Millers
One of her collections named the “Six Generations of Millers” came about as she began to research her unique family history, she discovered a rich lineage of millers spanning six generations.
It was then that she realized that the shape of the millstone was ingrained in her DNA, and that her passion for it was not just a passing interest. Additionally, she also uncovered old idol posters depicting the stars of yesterday with frizzy hairstyles, serene black lakes, and the sillion of a freshly plowed field. These influences have all found a place within her art, serving as a constant reminder of her roots and the inspirations that continue to fuel her creativity.
Rilla
The Rilla ribbed platter set is a true masterpiece of pottery that offers both beauty and functionality. Each platter features a footed design that elevates it from the surface it's placed on, giving it an elegant and refined look.
The ribbed surface of the platters is a unique feature that is inspired by various sources of inspiration, including the sandy beaches, Zen gardens of Japan, and psychedelic patterns. The ribbing creates a tactile experience that is not only visually appealing but also invites you to touch and feel the platter's surface. The white matte glaze used on each platter gives it a soft and smooth finish that enhances its effect.
These pieces were hand-thrown using high-quality grey stoneware, and you’ll find that these platters are made with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Like any artisan piece there are natural variations in the stoneware that give each platter a unique character that is exclusive to it. The process of making each platter is a labor of love that involves skilled hands and an eye for detail.
Apart from their aesthetic appeal, these platters are also highly functional. They are perfect for serving anything solid, such as cheese, bread, boquerones, or vegetable dishes. The raised foot design makes them easy to pick up and move around, and the ribbing on the surface helps to keep food from sliding around.
Overall, the Rilla ribbed platter set is a beautiful and practical addition to any kitchen or dining room. Whether you're serving up a casual brunch or a formal dinner, these platters are sure to impress your guests with their unique design and exceptional quality.
The Pink Collection
The Pink Collection features a variety of unique jars and cups, all with individual sizes and shapes but all part of the same family. The collection was first designed in March of 2020, during a time of political tension, a growing climate crisis, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Feeling a pressing need to create something uncomplicated and straightforward amidst the chaos and uncertainty of the times. Focusing on something as basic as a fun cup for their breakfast table, she crafted the first Elephant cup. The design is characterized by its naive and retro style, which brought a sense of joy and comfort to the designer in the midst of a challenging time.
The response to the Pink Collection has been overwhelmingly positive, with people appreciating the humor and simplicity that the designs bring to everyday life. The Bonbonniere and Elephant cup were the first two pieces in the collection, which draws inspiration from the Swedish TV show "Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter." which translates to “Five ants are more than four elephants” just try and think of a Swedish mashup of Barbapapa and Sesame Street and you’re nearly there. Nearly.
Despite each jar and cup having its own unique size and shape, they all share a common theme and style that ties the collection together. The Pink Collection is a testament to the power of design to uplift and inspire during difficult times, offering a playful and lighthearted touch to everyday objects.
